Dried fruits, nuts, and kernels have once been hailed as "guilt-free snacks" that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere. While providing a sense of fullness, they not only satisfy the pleasure of multiple chewing layers and delight the taste buds but also, more importantly, provide a comprehensive nutritional supplement. These mixed dried nuts and kernels can serve as not just snacks but also as food ingredients. For instance, they can be added to cereal bars to create delicious and highly nutritious portable foods.


【Dried Fruits, Nuts & Grain Energy Bar】


This no-bake grain bar can be easily customized – simply add your favorite dried fruits, nuts, and kernels.

 

Ingredients:

8 tablespoons of golden syrup

60g of packed brown sugar

60g of butter or margarine

180g of oats

2 teaspoons of grated orange zest

82g of mixed chopped dried fruits (such as raisin, dried apple, goji berry, walnut kernel, pumpkin seed/ kernel, sunflower seeds & kernels, etc.)

 

Steps:

1) In a large saucepan, combine the golden syrup, brown sugar, and butter. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils and the sugar dissolves. Continue cooking and stirring for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in the oats, orange zest, and mixed dried fruits.

2) Press the mixture firmly into a 23cm square baking pan coated with nonstick cooking spray.

3) Allow it to cool completely before cutting into bars. Store in an airtight container.
